Great place to get local news as long as the story is not outside of the city limits. The HopeStar refuses to cover anything outside of the town.

That time of year...
It's that time of year again. The temperature is warming and the grass is growing. Albeit, through a swampy mess. Spring is just around the corner and that means time to get back to keeping our community clean.
Driving around Hope, one would see very beautiful yards and homes. Many with great curb appeal and adherence to city ordinances. However, many do not. I see many yards with trash strewn about as if the homeowners could care less. Everyone knows that the economy is in the dumps with no sign of rebounding. This has left everyone's property values a little worse for wear. One would think that people would want to do anything and everything in their power to improve these dwindling property values. Alas, this is not the case.
I don't believe people realize how much just maintaining a clean appearance affects property values. I some markets this can affect value by 2-5%.1 Just picking up the trash and disposing of it properly would make such a big difference. This would do much to increase the viability of our town as site for new industry.
I say lets do our part and make our community a little better. Who knows, you may make yourself feel better in the process.
